250th ("Semiquincentennial") News

NJ.com has an article on the apparent lack of New Jersey representation and focus on the 250th National celebrations - "N.J. is terrible at honoring its Revolutionary history. Will it be left out of 250th party?"

Sept 2018 Meeting

Sunday September 16, we had our fall meeting at the Iron Horse Restaurant in Westwood, NJ. After the meeting we had a great presentation by Robert Mayers on the reality of live as a soldier in the Continental Army. Please check out his books at Amazon.

Schuyler-Hamilton, Washington Headquarters, Jockey Hollow Trip

Just back from fun multiple-site trip in Morristown area. First stop was Schuyler-Hamilton House - https://www.njdar.org/schuyler-hamilton.html - where Pat Sanftner of the NJ DAR gave a great review of the history of the house, the Schuyler family and Alexander Hamilton. (This site gives a very good synopsis of Pat's discussion - http://www.njskylands.com/attractions-schuyler-hamilton-house).

From there, we travelled down the street to Washington's Headquarters at the Ford house. There's a good HQ museum with period items, a rare manuscript collection, and cannons, muskets, etc.
